Information Safety
TrustLayer, Inc. (TrustLayer) uses best practices to ensure encrypted data transfer and secure storage, with robust authentication protocols. The data that you provide and that we collect is stored ‘in the cloud’ on Amazon Web Services. We use third-party software services to manage such data, all of which have policies designed to: (a) prevent them from accessing the data unless we make a specific request related to a problem with the database or unless they are legally compelled to do so; (b) provide only TrustLayer with full access to the data. TrustLayer has access controls to keep your information safe.
Use of the Information You Share
TrustLayer has developed a certain proprietary software-as-a-service (SaaS) product known as “TrustLayer” (the “Software Platform”). TrustLayer strives to allow users of the Software Platform to share documents with other users of the Software Platform, and may provide additional verification services or communications services to users of the Software Platform.
We collect several types of information from and about users of the Software Platform, including:
- Information by which you may be personally identified, such as name, postal code, and/or email address (“personal information”).
- Information that you share using the Software Platform.
- Information about your internet connection (i.e., IP address), the equipment and browser you use to access the Software Platform, and usage details with respect to the Software Platform.
With respect to information that you provide, we may:
- Use and disclose it in order to provide the services of the Software Platform;
- Disclose it to service providers and other third parties we use to support our business;
- Disclose it to a buyer or other successor in the event of a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution or other sale or transfer of some or all of TrustLayer assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation or similar proceeding, in which personal information held by TrustLayer about our users is among the assets transferred; and
- Use and disclose it as otherwise permitted by law.
We may also disclose your personal information to comply with any court order, law or legal process, including to respond to any government or regulatory request, to enforce or apply our terms of use and other agreements, including for billing and collection purposes, or if we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property, or safety of TrustLayer, our customers or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction.
The Software Platform is not directed to children under 13 years of age. TrustLayer does not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. Children should not submit any information through the Software Platform. If we learn we have collected or received personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information.
TrustLayer does not provide or sell personal information for marketing purposes, unless you direct us to provide you with recommendations for products or services, in which case we may use your personal information to do so. California Civil Code Section § 1798.83 permits users of our website that are California residents to request certain information regarding our disclosure of personal information to third parties for direct marketing purposes. Updates and Questions
